The Daydreamer is waiting to take your group or family on a trip off the coast of Ocean City, MD. As close as 3 to 25 miles offshore you will find sea bass, chopper blues, and sharks. Go further.... 25 to 85 miles offshore and find dolphin (the fish), tuna, mako shark, wahoo, and marlin ready to give you the fight of your life. Know the excitement of catching a tuna able to swim 50 miles per hour and smoke even the heaviest of fishing gear. We have seen many an angler fight a tuna for thirty minutes only hand the tackle to another too exhausted to reel one more time. The crew of the Daydreamer is willing to let you do as much or as little as you choose, from helping ready the tackle for trolling, rigging ballyhoo, to helping chum for Mako or chunk for tuna.

If you are looking for a Boat for the 2009 OC Tuna Tournament. We are open!!!!
As everyone knows Capt Chuck took a job with Bayliner and will only do a few trips with us this year. Jeremy Blunt has taken up the slack and is doing a great job. If anyone follows the tournaments he was the captain of the Why Not Mable when it placed on almost every tournament for two years in a row. He also captains the Wave Dancer. He has been scheduled to do four trips with us so far and has had to cancel two trips because of weather. Each time he produced well. His first trip he caught 19 yellowfin all small with one weighing 30 pounds. He went out on the 29th and caught two yellowfin weighing 50 pounds two dolphin one 30 and one 25 pounds. About 15 false albacore with several yellowfin and dolphin throwing the hook. The fish are here so call 888-6-FISHON! - Capt. Ken

Sorry for the absence of news posts, but the business is slow and when we have went out it has been some kind of weather, mostly wind. We started off the ocean season with a cracked propshaft, probably caused by a rope tangle that happend in the bay. We had a few shark trips with a lot of blue shark releases, some small mako releases. Usually the wind was blowing so hard we couldn't get a good drift. Tuna fishing has been a little better. There is a good yellowfin bite on, probably the best in 7 to 8 years. The big thing is being there to get them and most of the boats in the marina are running at about half of what they usually are. The economy is hurting us all. I haven't taken any video, mainly because it has been too rough to operate the camera and drive at the same time.

The Daydreamer is going to be out of service for the rest of the week. We are going to get the injectors worked on. Ed from OC is coming Thursday to do the work. Thanks Ed, nice to have someone we can count on. We will be coming into Ocean City on Saturday. We'll be gearing up for the upcoming shark season. We've had a lot of people ask us when we are going to be in OC. Justin and I will be at the Fishing Center slip B30 most of the weekend. Stop by and say hello. We want to thank everyone at the Rod n Reel for making us feel at home this year. We are looking forward to coming back this fall. If anyone is interested in going for a big MAKO we have Sunday, June 7 open.

This week will be your last chance to do a trip out of the Rod n Reel on the Daydreamer. Please call me if you want to book a trip, we are open Tue, Wed and Thu. This weekend we will be going around to Ocean City to start fishing for MAKO!!!! Also, the first of 5 videos have been posted on the site. This one is Randy from Sportsman's Magazine. He caught this one during the ProAm Rockfishing Tournament. It measured 43 inches. The next video will be from the week before of a 45 inch Rockfish. We shot a lot of video and I'm trying to cut it down to 3 1/2 min.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday we fished the ProAm Rockfishing Tournament. We had a great time. It's a well run tournament and some decent money was paid out after it was all over. Thanks to Sportsman Magazine for Saturday's trip. They were all very experienced fishermen and provided a lot of laughs and interesting stories and conversation. For details on our tournament days see the fishing report. Since opening day we have been busy with just about all the fishing we can handle. Bookings are slowing down some and we have a few days still open. Surprising enough we are booked Sunday and not Saturday, so if you want to go out while the big fish are still here, call. As of now the fishing is still hot, but they won't be here much longer. We're hoping the water stays cool so they'll will keep hanging around.

We had another good week out of the Rod n Reel in the Middle Chesapeake Bay. See the fishing report for details. Pat has been mating and Justin has been acting as captain. I have been doing pictures and video so hopefully the quality will be a little better (steadier) than some of the ones shot previously when I had to video and drive at the same time. Speaking of the pictures, I know some people are going to be looking for the pictures today, but I left the camera on the boat and will get it tonight. I will try have them on sometime this week. We need a Crew for Friday in the PROAM Fishing Tournament. If you are interested please call.

Last weekend we had a booth at the Hollywood Boat Show, put on by the Optimist Club. It was small when compared to the Harrisburg show, but it was big when it came to the food. Most shows serve lunch for between 10 and 12 dollars. The Optimist served Southern Maryland home cooking for next to nothing. I had a stuffed ham sandwitch to die for. We just wanted to give kudos to the Optimist Club for putting on a classy well run show. Next year if you are in the area put this boat show on your calendar. It is well worth the 5 dollars charge. We still have dates available for Rockfishing, so come on let's go!

Well the Daydreamer is back in the water after some necessary maintenance like bottom painting, Zincs, a little Gelcoat and she is as good as new. We took out the Helm in the cockpit and replaced it with a seated cooler. I must say it looks good. We are looking forward to April 18th when rockfishing season opens. We still have the afternoons open on the 18th and 19th. We also have the morning of Sunday the 26th open. Call me and let's go fishing.

It was good seeing everyone at the shows this year. Our thanks to everyone who booked early. We are looking forward to seeing everyone this year and are hoping the fishing cooperates. We are still looking for a crew for the OC Shark Tournament and the OC Tuna Tournament. If you are interested give me a call. If you don't have a group and I can get enough individuals together we could do it like that. Spring Trophy Rock fishing is opening April 18th and we still have a few dates open. If you are interested give me a call.
